6HR GRUMBLE BOOGIE

Aug 8, 2026

Hello Bodies, Welcome to 6HR Grumble Boogie. A surreal endurance aerobic dance class—a communal celebration, ritual of release and rite of renewal led by performance critter Betty Grumble and DJ HipHopHoe. After beautiful sharing in Naarm (Rising) and Boorloo (Rechabite) and The Red Rattler Theatre (Gadigal) we are excited to bring our work back to Naarm within the arms of beloved Pony Club Gym. Artists and soul kin, Grumble and HipHopHoe harness utopian energies gifted from their own experiences of creativity and queerness. The music spans house, techno, disco, rock, electronica and more. It is experimental and eclectic. A guided mediation on the dance floor. Sonically the music will be vast and deep, with a focus on global Indigenous sounds, music from the African Diaspora, Queer art and icons and the soundtrack to revolutions past and present. Choreography, music, protest and pleasures blend together in pursuit of restorative energy, that transcends the physical and psychic schedule of the status quo. Grumble and HipHopHoe invite you into the mantric wish of ‘Thank You Body’ as hearts pump and the serotonin builds. This is a personal and political work that combines conflicting emotions of love and grief, rage and empathy to forge a hopeful path to recovery and repair through movement and humour. Featuring guest facilitators, DJs and performers, the six-hour program is designed to be experienced in its entirety or dropped in on for moments of resonating joy. Use this event to dance, breathe, witness and process. Together in music, with our bodies and spirit this experience is designed to speak to the time we are in now. There will be seats for you to use to rest or dance from and the space is wheelchair accessible with an access toilet. To quote the late great Palestinian Lebanese poet Candy Royalle—‘We turn love into a circle’. Wear your dancing shoes. 8pm (arrival and warm in) 9pm Boogie Begins! 2am (fin) OUR LINE UP People who speak truth to power with their bodies, words and presence - Entire Line Up TBA!
